We all have our own individual make up routines, and ways in which we like to apply our favourite foundations, mascaras and so on. I like learning new techniques, and discovering new brands, by hearing from other people. Reading up on other people’s reviews and learning from them has always been something I enjoy doing, so I thought I would have a go at sharing my own everyday makeup routine.
The first thing I apply is my foundation. I’m currently using the Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation, which I have never had any problems with. I apply it with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (£5.99 from Superdrug) which I’m a big lover of. I find that this foundation makes my skin feel smooth and the shade Ivory 2 blends in well with my skin colour. This foundation prices at about £5.99 at Boots or £3.99 at Superdrug. It’s very well priced and I love the quality of the product.
The next thing I use is my trusted Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, which prices at about £4.19 in Boots or £3.99 in Superdrug. I use the shade ‘Fair’ and I honestly think this is my favourite concealer I’ve ever purchased. I apply it under my eyes, down my nose and on my chin (occasionally covering up the odd spot here and there). I find that this covers any blemishes very well and can also help to brighten around the eyes. I haven’t yet found a concealer that lives up to this standard, but I’m always up for suggestions so let me know if you have any recommendations!
The next thing I apply is my powder. I’m currently using, and loving, the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which I apply with my Real Techniques Powder Brush (£10.99 from Superdrug). I apply this over my cheeks, nose, forehead.. pretty much all over, and I find that it sits quite well on my skin and over the foundation. You can buy this from pretty much any drug store and the average price is around £3.99.
Next up is the blusher, and I use the Benefit Rockateur Blush. I don’t use blusher too often, but I really should get into it more. However, when I do use this I can say that I find it very easy to apply, in the way of not having to keep brushing it over your cheeks over and over until the colour shows. I actually first received this blusher within the ROCKitude Kit from Benefit, and it also came with a High Beam Complexion Enhancer, Rockateur Ultra Plush Lip Gloss and a Benetint Lip and Cheek Stain (although I’m quite skeptical about using this product in the fear that it will be too bright and overwhelming). You can buy the blusher alone for £24.50, but if you wanted to purchase the kit then they price at £26.50 and I’ll insert a photo below of what’s included!
My favourite part of any makeup routine has to be the mascara. My current favourite mascaras are the Benefit They’re Real and the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I won’t say too much about these products as I’m planning on writing a blog post later this week reviewing them, so look out for that! However, I also use the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. This works wonders for my eyes as my lashes are quite short, so using big brushes for the bottom doesn’t always work as they tend to clump together. The brush is so tiny and you only need to use a little bit which can last the entire day. It costs £14.50 on the Clinique website, but it’s definitely worth the purchase!
Last, but not least, the eyebrows. I know that some people like filling in the eyebrows near the beginning of their makeup routine, however I leave it until last. There’s no particular reason as to why I apply it last, it’s just what I’ve been in the habit of doing and can’t seem to break! I use the Benefit Gimme Brow, which unfortunately has recently been recalled but I’m hoping it becomes available again because I absolutely LOVE it. I first tried this product when I went to have my eyebrows waxed with Benefit the first time, and they gave me a freebie to try out (you can read my review on their eyebrow waxing service here: https://t.co/EqR8kuqmTw). The shade I use is 1 which I find matches my colour perfectly. It’s so easy to apply because of the size of the brush, and it fills in my brows so well. I’m yet to have found a brow product that I love as much as this one, and I know that once this runs out I won’t be able to get anymore until/if they become available again. So if you have any suggestions of brow products, then please leave these in the comments below!
Please let me know what your favourite brands/products are, because I’d love to try out new makeup! Aside from that, happy Tuesday!
